Making the Majority the Majority
A Path to Power

Name-calling or Identity Politics
Some will ask are Republicans really traitors or enemies to American values? Republicans like the Trumpers deserve respect, but Republican policies are killing people. Republican policies are an existential threat to Humanity itself. They deny global warming and sea level rise. If you view the election map below which is the vote for Republican Trump or Democrat Clinton adjusted for population. It is easy to see how many Americans are threatened by sea level rise. Republicans scream for a health care policy that will leave millions without access to health care. They demand policies in women's health care they call life, but are really about dominance over women's own bodies. These are GOP policies that directly threaten the lives of people, especially women and children. They will lower workplace safety and pollution controls all of these are attacks on the health and lives of people. These policy differences result from the GOP being beholden to corporate wealth. Yes these are political disputes, but they use power to disenfranchise citizens and deny factual data to be used in the debate. The most dangerous effect of the Trump Republican Party is the denial of fact and truth. There is no truth, but what they choose to believe.
I was astounded as were Diane Rehm's guests on November 30th when Scottie Nell Hughes asserted facts are really just opinion. She has been given a prominent place on CNN to spin disingenuous tales as part of CNN's election coverage in 2016. CNN's sense of even handedness is to treat lie as equal to fact, if it is what a commentator wants to assert as a defense of their candidate. This ridiculous policy has made CNN's election coverage excruciating to watch and was a boon to the Trump candidacy. All cable news is craven for the ratings; Trump brought them ratings. In a conversation about reporting on actual lies, like Trump tweeting that millions of "illegals" voted in Virginia, New Hampshire, and some other state, her response proposed something astounding to hear.
Ms. Hughes said this "on one hand I hear half the media saying that these are lies, but on the other half there are many people that go, no, it's true. And so one thing that has been interesting this entire campaign season to watch is that people that say facts are facts, they're not really facts. Everybody has a way, it's kind of like looking at ratings or looking at a glass of half-full water. Everybody has a way of interpreting them to be the truth or not true There's no such thing, unfortunately, anymore of facts."
We have entered a full on propaganda world brought on by an outraged group immune to facts or science. This is definitely a threat to our democracy and to the lives of the people in the United States and globally. The Republican Party is a danger to the lives of all of us. It is a threat to the the future of America just as secession was a threat to the Union and America's future in the 19th Century.
Bringing more people to the polls is the solution. We cannot reach the outraged Trumper. We should not waste resources to move a few "persuadables" back to the Democratic side. Those moderating policies are not a solution to the serious threats we face. We must build a modern digital structure of communication as the path for our party to win control of governemnt. If you look at the totals for the battle ground electoral states a more energized electorate would have won the election for Hillary Clinton. Elections she and Gore actually won are not some wash out, you can say warsh out. More importantly a digital outreach on the local level will turn Congress and state houses. All those emails are just depressing turnout, email is not a digital outreach. Let us dedicate ourselves to change and use the tools of government to govern once again.
