I would appeal to you as Lincoln appealed to the South, it is too important to allow old grudges or rivalry to prevent the better angels of our progressive, liberal, and moderate citizens from uniting. We are called to union once again to save our country and the world. We are bound by essential yet simple principles. We should end the debate and infighting over the minute details. Once we hold sway in councils, legislatures, and congress then will be the time for policy details. We must use all the tools of political war to win control of our government. In this quest we cannot continue the sniping, carping, and trolling of each other. This will allow the powerful and short sighted to steal from all of us a healthy and prosperous future. We must first insure the salvation of mankind. We are destined to make a society dominated by our better angels, not our instinctual fears.
