Fire Back Don't Think (cont.)
Thursday morning a great volunteer effort, Monday morning the great feeling ended.
..."Steve you were not at the park when this decision was made, therefore do not jump to conclusions. If you are so adamant about this then voice your concern at a City Council meeting rather then on a public forum such as this."
I walked around the park myself before the trees were cut. I saw the situation first hand. Photos support my opinion that many trees were healthy and undamaged. I was in my office but on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I was busy repairing towers and stuff. I would have been glad to come over, if anyone had asked. I find it revealing that comments on PJ Star are in a public forum, but coming and speaking to the council meeting is not. If there was more of a public forum before this decision was made, everyone in Elmwood would have been better served.
I decided to state exactly who I was on the PJ Star forum. I don't regret that; I am willing to defend what I say. I never make the assumption I can not be wrong. I apologize when I find I have been wrong. The city has not apologized, they have not been forthcoming in how this decision was made. They did get the public's attention, but they act like the wishes of the citizens are the last thing they want. Only after the fact are they reaching out to the community. Informing and reaching out to the community is the whole purpose of my web efforts. I was not trying to be self serving in mentioning elmwoodil.org; I was using it as a way to present information to the public. The City of Elmwood should adopt the same approach.
