I am not sure what happened in 2017, either. I did write this story. Mystery Gift
Year 2018
Alex’s girlfriend Joni Moore graduated from nursing school at WIU in May. She passed her board exam and then began the long inexcusable wait (August to December) to be issued a license by the State of Illinois. Joni will begin at Unity Point Methodist in Peoria on Jan 2nd. Alex and Joni have two cats that do not commute to Elmwood for walks. We did have to drop in for cat care while they took a trip to the Cancun region, Alex’s craft skills are still a work in process. Joni grew up in Burlington, therefore she, like Nancy, is an Iowan and a Hawkeye fan. Nancy does set a place at the table for Joni, an honored place. Maybe, if Reggie became a Hawkeye Fan. (Have you watched the fans wave at the kids in the children’s wing at U of I football games? Iowans really are great people, well except for Steve King, he’s likely a Cyclones fan)
Nancy now works at EP!C (Peoria) as a grant writer, also she continues to consult. She has group health insurance again. Health insurance is very important for a young woman. Old coots like me are beyond medical aid. We have our Medicare and don’t want the government screwing with it. She is enthralled with the Great British Baking Show but has yet to bake any of their challenges. We enjoyed a short trip to McGregor and Dubuque Iowa with stop at Galena IL before she began at EP!C. She cares for our cat Ginger and her mother Winifred who lives next door. Both are very independent and are sure they do not need help in decision making. Nancy had a short-lived career in journalism for local Weeklies, but even loafing watching HGTV pays more. It was fun but a luxury she could not afford.
