I am not sure what happened in 2017, either. I did write this story. Mystery Gift

My life is available at Facebook.com/ShireSteve or on Forgottonia.org/ShireIndex.html. I throw photos on Flickr (Grey Panther), sometimes essays on Daily Kos, as well. I continue with a part time job as a township assessor. I am trying to fully live senior hood without conceding I am old. It works sometimes. I took a solo trip to Eastern KY and Eastern TN. I camped, but mostly it was a Civil War battlefield tour: Perryville, Stones River, and Chickamauga. It was a great time, except for the four days of solid rain at the Daniel Boone National Forest.  More battlefields await but I have developed a new appreciation of desert camping. My mother is doing well and very resistant to change. I hope things we did change, and other suggestions will be accepted to keep her safe. She has good health, but at 90 it is time to realize that, after a lifetime of preparing for old age, she is there.  I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and I hope you will find strength and support in the coming year. We all have challenges and face many trying times. I have found the support of others and faith do help carry one through.

Do not overlook the joy of the small moments and the dark times will have more light.
I have done well in this letter to refrain from preaching out of my church experience or punditing out of my passionate concerns for history and politics. (mostly) If you are interested in any of my stories, thoughts, and spiritual explorations, many of them are on those online web sites.
I did the Ancestry.com DNA thing. I was afraid it would come back 70% coffee, but it reports I have over 1000 cousin matches. It’s available to compare to, if you do ancestry.  Even my caveman DNA has entered the public domain.

My most fervent prayers for all of you        ----     Steve Davis
