Wise Men Still Seek Him -- Dec 29, 2019 at Colchester & Hills Grove
This was my script for today as I gave message
Seeking Jesus is a lifelong journey to find your true self
Our perspective will change as we gain experience – or as some may point out, we get old. The Two greatest commandments Love God – Love God’s Creation
I say love God’s creation – because we do not love others by destroying their homes – or starving their children – or failing to see the beauty and handiwork of the creator God If we do not recognize the creator God, we miss the spark of God. The spark of God is the image of God within our soul. We must seek our soul, the spark of God, to be in communion with God In our connections with each other as we come here in communion there is a power. As a communion of souls in prayer and in service we manifest God’s will in the world.
It should be easy. these two are the priority; all other doctrine, ritual, or belief should align with them.
Yet it isn’t easy.
Partly this is because God has chosen to create some people I would rather he had not. Some people seem to have no joy or appreciation for God’s creation – Even though I am to love them, they can bum me out Petty people just make my attempt to stay filled with grace and peace,, a challengePeople have let the world – the material world take over their true selves.
We stress, we fear, we react to what we believe others think of us.
If we were our true selves in communion with God, loving God, seeking God, living in God – we would have none of this
Many of our tribulations are manmade not created by God. Yes, natural disasters happen, illness happens, death happens, but this is the nature of our existence in this world. Even then existing as our true selves will help us cope. Much of our troubles are not part of nature –
We have created troubles.
Troubles that only exist because we have taken them and wrapped them into who we think we are.
Some people stress so over Christmas – not simply live in the joyous part.
We do not live as the people God created us to be.
