Wise Men Still Seek Him -- Dec 29, 2019 at Colchester & Hills Grove
This was my script for today as I gave message
Seeking Jesus is a lifelong journey to find your true self
I like cars.
I like sports cars.
I love my Chrysler Crossfire even as impractical as it sometimes is – but why?
I could drive a car that just started and ran. One that had a top speed of at least 70 or 75 miles an hour.
Why would I rather have someone see me in a sports car than Ford Escort?
Is that God’s creation or is it a self the world has created? Isn’t my self-image vanity?
How can I be Jesus’ follower and still hold this aspect of myself?
Yeah, I’m not ready to give up on the Crossfire
I do not think we can be born again and call it a one and done.
Finding Jesus is portrayed like prospecting for gold or discovering some artifact.
Once we have it; we can keep it, hide it in a vault, possess it, and it will never change.
I view Jesus as a guide or my companion. Jesus is walking with me on my journey.
I do not own anything.
I cannot claim to possess anything. I am offered to walk in this special relationship experiencing joy and sorrow.
In Jesus we have the Son of Man, Son of God who shares humanness yet lives in the Kingdom of Heaven Simply having once found Jesus is not enough – how many prominent Christian Leaders can we name who have left for personal failings?
Many not prominent were once saved Christians also.
These Christians had once found Jesus, hadn’t they?
Did they not preach of being assured of salvation?
The world gained possession because they assured themselves, they were God’s chosen.
But they stopped searching, seeking, they left their true self for the worldly self
