22 Days is a Lifetime
I decided to move in with my grandparents to help them stay in their own home. My grandmother was getting weaker from a chronic breathing condition. I stayed at their house as I drove to WIU in Macomb to complete my last year, 1975.
If I was there to help, they could live their lives much as they always had. Grandma Anna died in December 1975. I learned to cook with an iron skillet while with them. If you want fried chicken and gravy the way my Grandmother did, I can still do it. It will be good don't let my wife Nancy know, she'll spoil it all with her foolish nutrional information.
I was there for another year and a half before my grandfather Harry died. I was working on our farm the day he died. Harry was up before me as usual, he started breakfast bacon and eggs. He didn't usually, but I think he thought I should be out the door already.
