Mr. Schock -- a Theory of Wealth
Industrialization, digital interaction, and other advances have changed society, but maintaining a habitat that allows all the needed components to flourish is a nation's wealth.
If my habitat is safe, with little threat of theft of property or threat of harm to my person, my wealth is increased. I may get all sorts of diseases, but unlike in medieval times, my habitat has the resources to prevent or cure many diseases. In a complex habitat like ours disease prevention or cure does not depend on one person's knowledge or research. We have developed a complex interconnected system. Sometimes even seemingly unrelated developments cause creativity in medical development. Laser research was not undertaken for eye treatments. So to fully develop the potential of our habitat to heal me, many complex components need to interact and flourish. When these components flourish my wealth increases. Even though I can use my wealth to pay for treatment, no individual has adequate wealth to get all the components to flourish or to maximize the habitat's ability to prevent and cure disease
Enriching the habitat, making it adapt and evolve so that humanity can reach higher levels of existence that is the goal. The habitat requires the flourishing of all its components. If all the components of our habitat flourish new connections from diverse experiences can interact to initiate creativity. The highest level of creativity allows each individual maximum freedom. Maximizing the habitat makes wealth for all its components even us small folk. We have come a long ways from medieval times, we are just on the verge of a new level of social organization. We don't live in the same habitat of the turn of the century. Twelve years has moved our potential to new levels. The new age of American Pragmatism will surpass any dream from the age of the original pragmatists Peirce, James, and Dewey.
Returning government to the control of constituents will initiate reform of a dysfunctional government. The decision making process will be in control of the collective mind. Academic discussions in college classrooms may posit can the individual be right and everyone else be wrong? Yes it is possible and certainly the collective mind can be wrong. Still the collective mind is a process, if the individual is right; the collective mind may come to recognize this and adapt. Currently majorities of American people support far more sensible economic policies than our owned politicians will support. When the inevitable evolution occurs our government will become effective and efficient. Implementation of the insights of the collective mind will renew dynamism in our nation.
New discoveries await
Our nation is our group, our group could expand later in the century, certainly all of North America may function as a group in the future. Currently we must regain control of the group we are a part of, the United States. Our habitat will be greatly enhanced by small changes magnified throughout the group. The exponential affect of incremental efficiencies when initiated throughout the group can be amazing. One way to foster creativity is to rethink copyright and patent. Developments occur from the collaboration and interaction of multiple individuals more often than the breakthrough of a single mind. Portions of profit from the sale of new developments should be allocated to research universities based on peer reviewed judgements of contribution. This would encourage pure research at our universities making more avenues of open dialog between all components of our group. This will trigger new levels of creativity.
People are unmotivated and disillusioned because participation in any party or candidate campaign is by gifts of money. Money used to deliver votes. If people were brought into a party to help formulate policy, discuss and inform their connections. The party will find less need of money. People will participate at higher levels. Allowing the group to regain control of our government, taking our experiment to govern ourselves to the next stage of evolution. The collective American voice will be heard throughout the world. We must do what Americans have always done hash out what we should do and vote.
Why address this to Mr. Schock he cares nothing for my ideas. He will not read this, he will not veer from partisan manipulation to achieve power. I do this because inevitably the Mr. Schocks of America will be synced to the collective mind. It is as inevitable as a calving glacier in Glacier Bay (video). When the collective mind decides our politics, our economy will flourish, our habitat will flourish. America will be wealthier, everyone will be wealthier. When the American habitat flourishes it propels the world.
