Forgottonia Forgotten Again
A person who has never worked and has his eyes fixed on celebrity. A person addicted to luxury travel will never appreciate the sacrifice of the school bus driver, the school cook, the teacher’s aide, people who work with the developmentally disabled, and so many other care giving people. All the people who do these jobs, jobs that must be done but are not glamorous, deserve sincere respect. The people who come to work everyday with great dedication for low pay and little recognition or reward. Aaron Schock existed in high flying lifestyles while supporting the policies of the wealthiest. Policies that give the backbone of our district the backhand of contempt; this is not representation. GOP/Tea policies do not benefit the 18th or our nation. We can draw together as citizens of the district to elect a moderate and reasonable person who understands us, a person who wants to live amongst us, raise a family in one of our small towns, preserve our family farms, keep our streams unpolluted, all so that their grandchildren can enjoy the land they grew up in. A person lost to the acquisition of wealth and luxury, can never understand our land where people value the love of family, the spiritual connections within our communities, the respect of neighbors, the reputation of reliability, and friends who work together. Illinois’ 18th is not a district composed of soulless suburbs. Our citizens value the contribution of common people and accord each person dignity and respect. We do not have that person now, but we can and this is the beginning of that goal.
Our district has the unique opportunity to preserve the good things of life while fully embracing a better future. The policies of exploitation have no place in Forgotonia. We need preservation, conservation, and innovation.
Aaron Schock resigned on the afternoon of March 17th
I will begin to assemble the tools in this web space. We need not be so quickly forgotten again. We must use the tools to overcome the power of money. Money now used to disillusion the people and supplant democracy with oligarchy. Power still resides in the people; we should stop forfeiting it on contrived distractions designed to blind us from our common interests. I will continue but not certain as to a specific course.
I had written about Mr Schock coming to Elmwood and the questions I had that were not answered. He was to come to Elmwood again Saturday at an event for a Habitiat Home for a veteran, a project he was named sponsor. My questions will still be unanswered. Now to build a network to force a representative to care more about the constituents than the money.
