Making the Majority the Majority

This project is a digital framework to connect our current generation that will build a future for the world and humanity.

The elements of change are available if the Democratic Party chooses to use the tools the modern information age provides us. Anyone who has ever studied military strategy understands concentration of force and not dissipating force in uncoordinated attacks. The party’s current approach and the cause of our exile from government is our discordant approach against a very power hungry and ruthless opponent, the GOP and their power backers. We need not analyze or imitate our opponents; we need to assess our own resources and mobilize them in an effective manner. The greatest asset the Democratic Party has is that we are the majority. A majority can own our system of government, if we can get the majority to the polls. I propose therefore a new digital approach to connect and give ownership to the supporters of the Democratic Party. People need ownership to become avid voters. If the millennial generation is to become invested in the elections, then they must see outcomes and success from participation. If the Democratic Party created a website structured on each Congressional District. We could build connection at the local level. We could allow millennial activists to involve and influence their circle of friends. The design and features of this web site must be multi-layered, with an intuitive user interface that is slick and easy to use. It must work across multi-platforms and fit the daily lifestyles of our times.

Priorities

I Security
Hacking, phishing, and other attacks will occur.
Users must have confidence in their own security

II Dialog and input
Our base is educated and sophisticated; they want a voice
Connected in forums they will be a wealth of effective policy formation.

III Investment
Participants in information and policy forums will become owners of the process.
Ownership will commit people to prioritize election participation

IV Candidates
Bringing local based interaction will produce leaders at the grassroots
These forums will spawn candidates at all levels of government

V Small Donor Power
Increased participation will dwarf present fundraising techniques
Local candidates will have more funding and ease getting candidate petition signatures

The Obama for America website is a good example of a beginning a decade ago. We could build an evolved modern design exponentially more effective at organization and results.

We can outreach to many allies in building this model. First the Obama for America people, other websites designed for user interaction, such as Daily Kos, and partners from the technology industry. Partners like the people who came in and rescued healthcare.gov.

The ongoing operation and moderation of these forums could be paid interns and volunteers.  There are many active social media senior citizens who are committed and have time to volunteer.  Every Democratic voter in a primary or a caucus should be entered in as a member. Others could join for a fee. Few trolls will pay a registration fee.  People who choose to stay inactive can remain that way, but the energy shown by the protest marches demonstrate there are many people looking for a way to express their opposition to the destructive policies of the GOP and Trump administration. Inside these forums members could identify their affiliations like being a supporter of the Sierra Club, ACLU, or Planned Parenthood. The site would provide avenues to bring the energy inside the party, not leave it flailing in uncoordinated individual efforts.
