Senator Warren

We still know she is the most qualified

Sometimes we learn to adapt and move on. We have hopes and aspirations, but events don’t always match our desires. This is what we try to convey to our children and grandchildren. We want to win in many ways, but some are trivial. The Packers may win the Super Bowl or fall short, but it doesn’t affect climate change. We want to appreciate our teenager’s distress over a romantic disappointment. It is a trauma on a personal level, but again it won’t affect income inequality in America. After those type of setbacks, we gather experience and try to be good losers. Other of life’s disappointments are more damaging. We should choose wisely in marriage; others will be hurt. If we fail at business or careers, then our failure can ripple through many lives. Humanity is defined by how we handle failures.

If we lose our character or our morality, then we are lost as humans. On a personal level the most satisfaction is gained from family and friends who love and respect us. If we live as loving and ethical people, then we will have succeeded on the most important of levels. Now is a time for character. I have some perspective on failure and life after. My wife and I will soon celebrate our 37th anniversary. I didn’t get married until I was 30, so you could speculate not all my earlier relationships were lasting.  We have two fine and successful sons. Good citizens who work hard and care about the future of the world. After a nine-month pregnancy our first child died in the womb. This shared loss brought us closer together as a couple. Maybe our sons are better for how we reacted to a life tragedy before they even existed. I experienced business setbacks. In spite of working at an unrelenting pace for thousands of hours. It wasn’t financially successful.  I can look back now at the accomplishments creative and satisfying, but not financial. I tried too much on my own, and I fell short. I know how it hurts to lose.

Tonight, I am hurting again. I early on decided to work for Senator Warren’s election. It is obvious to me; she is the one who would be our best president. Senator Warren has not gotten sufficient votes to be leading this race. It is an unusual combination of circumstances. Trump defeating Hillary Clinton has put a woman’s candidacy at doubt. Yet, Secretary Clinton did win and without the stupid email thing would likely have held the electoral victory. Trump is so unfit; it is hard to argue against the notion that anyone would be a better president. Our primary schedule is more compressed with an impeachment thrown into the middle of the process. The overwhelming awareness that the Democratic nominee must win in 2020 has cast anxiety over every voter. All these and some other factors have made this primary unlike any other. I canvassed in Iowa and in Illinois for Warren; the undecided voter was a majority of the electorate. People just wanted to make the right choice and didn’t know where to jump. Then South Carolina and Jim Clyburn said trust Biden and a floodgate was unleashed.

I became a leader/moderator in the discussion community. I have given money. Tonight, it hurts. Elizabeth Warren has done it right. The Warren campaign created a fantastic organization. It is populated with marvelous people. Dedicated hard working people who are the ones we hope all our children grow up to be. In any other year this race would still be rolling. People would not have rushed to Biden as they have, but this is not any other year. I would hope we can still make the world a better place, but we need dramatic change to save our planet and our democracy. I have no faith in 'one speech' Bernie, or 'we can compromise with Republicans' Biden. First, we must acknowledge the Republican Party must be forced into unconditional surrender. They will never work in good faith; it is naïve to think so. Did Biden learn nothing from the Obama presidency?  Bernie is not bringing the revolution to the polls as he promised; I therefore have no faith in his ability win the general election. I think Biden is likeliest to win in November.

Trump Rants

Trump has so damaged America - people chose not their favorite, but who they hoped would win.

I would have encouraged Warren to stay, but there is no viable path. Her policy ideas need to be heard. Her expertise needs to be brought to bear on Trump and the GOP. Corruption or undue influence of money is still the most serious problem for future generations. Bernie is incapable of articulating the steps of practical reform. Biden is not often articulate but has good intentions. Senator Warren must be heard; we need her vision and her expertise. Also will she endorse? Bernie did call her a liar when he could have said she misunderstood his statement. I am just a man and may not be as forgiving as a woman. I would ignore the Bernie trolls. His supporters, the small core of nasties, have aleinated almost everyone. I would not do anything to help Bernie, he is simply a clanging cymbal. We still need Senator Warren to shape policy. May she find a platform to make people hear her plans.  Our nation must make dramatic change to make a better world for all our posterity, practical steps, researched policies, and plans — read the plans.

OK Last note -- Warren is dropping out today -- we are less of of a nation.

Senator Warren is ending her campaign; it is a loss for our nation. She could articulate and work for a solution in a manner rarely seen in our politicians. The Warren campaign has attracted some of the best of America. The people I encountered in this campaign were all dedicated, polite, caring, and very informed people. Natalie Green lead us in the discussion community she was a great leader. Ben and Betsy Kemper were simply awesome. Everyone of the volunteers I met when I canvassed were great people. Today I find my Billionaire Tears mug is filled with my own.

I have a reason to care about our future world

I will bang around hiking — visiting National Parks & Civil War Battlefields and mentoring my grandson. I worry about our Nation’s future defeating Trump will be a good first step.
